About Regina Ajak Akol

Regina Ajak Akol is a dedicated humanitarian and lawyer with over a decade of experience in protecting vulnerable populations, with a specific focus on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response in complex emergency settings. Currently serving as the Field Coordinator for Abyei, she is a seasoned leader known for her strategic vision, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to survivor-centered care.

Her career is defined by a blend of on-the-ground program management, high-level coordination, and a deep understanding of the legal and social frameworks that protect women and children. As a former Project Coordinator and GBV Response Officer with organizations like the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Regina has demonstrated a proven ability to lead multi-sectoral teams, build robust referral pathways, and integrate protection mainstreaming into humanitarian action.

A skilled trainer and facilitator, she has led capacity-building initiatives on GBV case management, Clinical Management of Rape (CMR), Psychosocial Support (PSS), and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) for field staff and partners. Her ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, including local government, UN agencies, and community leaders—has been instrumental in harmonizing efforts and strengthening referral networks, ensuring survivors receive timely, confidential, and high-quality services.

She is a passionate advocate for women’s leadership and empowerment, driven by a personal commitment to creating a safer, more equitable world for future generations. Her leadership is characterized by integrity, resilience, and a profound dedication to the communities she serves.
