The African Christian Ecumenical Alliance (ACEA) was not born in a boardroom. It was born in the red dust of South Sudan, shaped by profound trauma, lived suffering, and unshakeable faith.
Our founder, a former child soldier in Sudan who later became a Reverend in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, carries lived experience of conflict and survival. His journey has taken him through war, displacement, extreme deprivation, and humanitarian collapse, witnessing first-hand the struggles of communities facing hunger, violence, disease, and lack of clean water.
From this reality of suffering shaped by both conflict and climate shocks, where floods and drought intensify violence and destroy recovery systems, ACEA was founded not as a memory of pain, but as a response for transformation.
Out of that experience, he did not build a monument to the past, but an alliance for the future.
ACEA does not offer temporary relief for deep, systemic wounds. We operate through a three-phase model that connects emergency response, recovery, and long-term transformation.
Critical Stabilization & Saving Lives
When disaster strikes - whether conflict, drought, or flooding, speed and access are critical. We deliver rapid, faith-anchored emergency response in hard-to-reach areas, including emergency nutrition, trauma first aid, mobile health services, and immediate protection for vulnerable groups.
Recovery & Community Resilience
Survival alone is not enough. We support communities to rebuild dignity and stability through access to clean water, climate-resilient agriculture, safe spaces for women and girls, and livelihood recovery programs. Displacement camps are supported to evolve into functional, self-reliant communities.
Systemic Influence & Sustainable Transformation
We go beyond immediate needs to address root causes. ACEA advocates for justice-driven peacebuilding, climate resilience policies, and equitable economic systems. We also invest in developing local leaders who integrate faith, service, and community transformation.
We are Christian. We are ecumenical.
We unite Anglicans, Catholics, Pentecostals, and historic Protestant traditions around one conviction: faith must be expressed through action that protects life, dignity, and justice.
We are also deeply African.
We reject dependency models and savior narratives. Instead, we recognize and strengthen the resilience already present in communities, in mothers, village leaders, youth, and local faith actors.
We exist because experience has shown that saving lives without rebuilding systems leads to repeated crises, and recovery without transformation leads to continued vulnerability.
Across Africa’s climate- and conflict-affected regions, the Church faces a defining choice: to comfort power, or to serve suffering.
We have chosen to serve.
Not in pity, but in partnership.
Together, we stabilize crisis, rebuild communities, and transform systems for lasting hope.
Through careful planning, collaboration, and transparent execution, we turn insights into practical initiatives that create lasting, positive impact where it matters most.
