The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the host communities across South Sudan and the region have been severely suffering with communicable diseases due to poor sanitation and hygiene in surrounding areas.

Lack of access to potable water and pit latrines has increased risks and outbreak of the diseases mostly in the IDPs camps.

African Christian Ecumenical Alliance supports the provision and access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene. We believe that access to potable water, Sanitation and Hygiene is a fundamental to every human being.

We work to promote:

  • Safe hygiene practices in water collection, transporting storage and use at household level across South Sudan.
  • Sanitation and hygiene at communal water service points in the schemes in our target geographical
  • Improved hand washing behavior in the schools and communities
  • Improved use and maintained of latrine in the public
  • Hygiene education within the communities and schools
